I have a 180ft deep well with a water filtering system at home and the salt container is accumulating water more than usual. Can someone tell me what is causing this problem?

Salt container, do you mean a brine tank on a soft water system? How often does your softner regenerate?

I can only imagine by the description that you actually have an anion regenerating filter system, or you have a softener. Either way the set up is basically the same with a valve head on top that regenerates every so often (clock or programmable). Assuming that is what you have, could you either take a picture(or explain it with make and model that you can find on the back)of the valve on top of the filter. Once we have that we can help you know what needs to be replaced.

If it is just a two or three phase filtration system then I am completely out in left field and we will need to start from the beginning. More information please.
Thanks
Have a great day

Yes, is a brine tank which was working OK. All of a sudden, began to fill 3/4 ti to the top. What can be causing this problem?

Your o-rings in your valve are not sealing. This happens all the time. Seal kits can be bought that will replace all the seals and o-rings in your valve.

What happens is that with old softeners there is always water pressure on the brine line. So when the seals get corroded or else get calcium or some other gunk on them they can't shut off the flow after the last cycle which is to fill your brine tank.
Look in the brine tank and in the plastic tube attached to the side (see picture below)of it you will see that there is a float in there.
That is what is keeping you basement from being flooded right now.

Depending on what type of valve system you have your seal kit will look something like the pictures below. If you need more assistance let us know. Good luck
