Hi I'm not sure if you know about dogs but my boyfriend got a pitbull about a month ago and he just found out he has worms.. he has an appointment on Friday for the vet and in the meantime he gave him a dewormer... and then he told me that the dog threw up the worms and they were long white worms... so I was just wondering what kind of worm that is.. he said they weren't flat... so imnot sure if they were tape worms.. please let me know because if its more serious maybe he should take him sooner then Friday..

Worms only come from the rear, danniella, not from the stomach. Yes we know about dogs.
The vet gave your b/f a dewormer and you still have to take the dog the vet, right? A vet takes a sample of the dog's stool to detect worms.
The dewormer will work but you b/f has to keep an eye on what the dog does outside, like pooping. Your b/f has to look at the dog's poop and if there are any little white things like pieces of rice, then you know the dog is eliminating the worms.

Most baby animals get worms from the mothers milk. I don't know the difference between which worms are which (tape and round) but you need to take it to the vet as Tickle said because the cheaper medicine gets rid of the one worm but if it is the other worm you still have the problem.

Yea he is taking the dog to the vet... and yea I know that worms come out of the rear but the dog threw up in the car... if the worms are in his stomach then can't he throw them up? I mean he saw the long white worms in his dogs throw up so obviously its possibe.. but thanks..

Daniella, if his dog brought up worms the dog must have eaten them, or his dog has developed something I have never heard of before. Its too bad he didn't take a picture, Daniella, then we could have identified the problem and given better advice. You didn't say how old the pitbull is, but if bought from a pet shop, which gets into our continual discussion on puppy mills and their treatment of animals, then I can understand the condition of the dog.
Worms develop in the dogs intestinal tract, and very rarely get to the stomach. If tapeworm exists in the dog, then THEY EXIT FROM THE REAR, NOT THE FRONT. Think about this a while and then you will understand what I mean; apparently this dog is very ill and I am glad you and your friend care enough to get him to a vet. Good luck.
Kindest regards

My dog had the same kind of worms last year, same description. I bought an expensive wormer from petco , costs about 40. For one usage, pill form. It fixed him right away.
I also have in the past given my cat garlic and it worked as well. I tried that with my dog but it did not work.
I was told it was an old folk lore but I did use it on my cat and it worked!! She had a bad case and the vet could not get her in right away so I tried it.:)
