Hello, my name is Rachelle and I just gave birth to a beautiful little girl name Kaya on April 1 2009 and I already had my first menstral cycle AB, it was exactle 28 days after I had stopped bleeding from giving birth.( with only lasted a week) and my mentstral cycle was a normal 7 day cycle. Now I am 3 days late and know that being irregular isn't uncommon after birth and was woundering if there was a way to tell if I was just being irregular or I happen to get to get pregnant again.
Thank you so much in advance for you time.
Rachelle

Im not sure but I think you can't actually get pregnant that early after giving birth, something to do with the body recovering which would make sense as I siad Im not sure..

That's what I have heard also but I hope not I was told I had to wait for 16 weeks before I could get an iud. So we have just been using condoms and being very careful but I have this fear we weren't careful enough.. thanks for answering back.

You can get pregnant as soon as one month after birth and even earlier. Just depends when you start having sex again.

Now, Kayasmommy, are you or were you breastfeeding?

Im sory I was wrong You can pregnant as soon as you ovulate. Some women ovulate four to six weeks after delivery. Others (particularly breast feeding moms) may have their first ovulation much later.

Your period can be out of whack for up to 6 months after giving birth. That doesn't mean that you are not ovulating though, your ovulation times will be different than before.

Glad to hear you are using condoms, I would advise that you wait another week and if your period has not come by then, test using first morning urine.

A test won't be accurate that early.I doubt your pregnant really I do.

Why do you say that? This is what I advise my patients, and I have delivered babies that are 13 months apart.

There is a test that can detect pregnancy as little as one week after the missed period I believe, and thank you

The test can be accurate after one week. Some tests, which I don't always recommend, can detect pregnancy as early as 5 days before a missed period.
