View Full Version : Car never run during rain

I have a toyota Camry 1990.Every thing is fine.It starts okay in every season. No problem in the winter season even in heavy snow or acute cold temperature the car has no problem in start or running. The only problem is during rain. For example if my car is parked outside and there is a rain even for 5 or 10 minutes. Now if I start my car.It will start okay.I can drive the at first but immediately after passing a few yards it feels that it is not getting full current because a little bit missing is felt. Now if the road is clear and if I can run the car in full speed and can not allow the car to stop, then after passing some more distance it will feel okay, but on the other hand after passing a few yards if there is stop sign or for some reason I have to stop my car, then after that if I try to drive my car then immediately the car will stop and every thing on the Deash Board in side the car will come up on the dash board screen. Now if I try to start my car, the car will start as usual mostly but the moment I put the car in Drive mode then instead of moving forward it will stop again. This will occur again and again unless until I leave the car after start for some minutes so that the temperature gets high of the car or in some cases I have to put the car in a lower mode like D2 lower then Drive mode so that I can drive the car for some yards in slow drive mode and after that if I get some clear way in front of me then put the gear back in Drive mode and run the car in full speed so that whatever the missing which I feel can go and my car can run normally. The surprising thing is that after starting in full pace,if I drive my car in rain for even hours it will not give any problem.
Right now I didn't figure out the real solution for its cause.so through this forum I would like the comments for some one who have experience with such problem and he has a solution of that issue.
Thanks a lot.

You likely need to replace the distributor cap, spark plug wires, and coil. Be sure to use dielectric grease. Clean and spray plug wires and coil with silicone spray, if you don't replace them.
