I heard you could start giving them tuna @ 18 months? However, my husband has severe seafood allergies so I am a little skeptical as to when I should start or able to give my son seafood for the first time... he is 20 months old..?

Have you asked your pediatrician? Since your hubby has allergies, I would approach this with the doc.

If your husband has severe allergies to say lobster and any sort of shellfish, I would suggest you talk to your pediatrician and have the child tested at an allergist to see if they inherited this allergy. The last thing you want to do is any sort of at home experimentation due to the severity of your husband's allergies. Your child may or may not have inherited this trait from him. It's best not to take chances. Have him seen by an allergist and tested for each thing your husband is allergic to.

Well my husband has allergies to lots of different things... cats, seafood, penicillin, and a few others... so far my son hasn't been allergic to anything else, but knowing my luck, he is to seafood... the Dr's knew my husband had these allergies, buy still prescribed him amoxicillin for something when he was much younger... so I don't know! Lol *never know what to think from some dr's these days!*

Thanks for the replies... I will ask my pediatrician at his next visit... :)
