Hi, I recently dyed my hair to "natural black" and was interested in going down to a shade lighter such as "medium ash brown". Does anyone have any suggestions such as how I might go about doing that? And what is the best products to use? Thanks

Unfortunately when you go that dark you limit your possibilities of getting a lighter shade. Color CAN NOT lift color. I repeat: COLOR CAN NOT LIFT COLOR. In order for you to go to a lighter shade you are going to need to use a cream lightener and lift some of that dark "natural black" off your ends. You would leave it on long enough to watch the color lift; lift enough so that you can use the shade that you truly want. There are so many things to take into account. The cream lightener closest to the scalp will process quicker due to the heat radiating off your scalp. Then when recoloring your hair you have to take into account the shade that you end up with after you rinse out the cream lightener. The best advice I could EVER give you would be that when you are attempting to do a color correction, please ALWAYS consult a professional. THey will give you free consultation and based on their experience and comments you would be safest to have a professional that you trust changing your hair color for you. It would make you angry to know how many of us professionals spend our time and make the majority of our money fixing the "home" jobs. Good Luck to you and I hope this helps! :o
