If you really want to leave it than try to avoid it... when you feel like to smoke that time do the work what you like to do... keep yourself busy... try to divert your mind at that time.. I am sure you will quit it one day... :)

If you really want to quit, you just quit. When I quit (2-3 packs/day for 13 years) I used the gum to help with the cravings.

Change your daily routine. When are you doing most of your smoking? Avoid those people, places or things that make you light up.
I tried to quit for years. I finally succeeded when I started a new job. My new coworkers did not know me as a smoker so they did not invite me out for smoke breaks. My hours were also different than I was used to.
You also have to be really, really ready to do it. It's been over 10 years for me and I still miss it sometimes.

A lot of things helped me to quit. I'm about 3 and a half months into my current attempt. Don't think of it as just a habit, it's a powerful addiction, and it takes effort to kick. Don't underestimate what your up against. Honestly, the most helpful resource for me was this website: WhyQuit - the Internet's leading cold turkey quit smoking resource (http://www.whyquit.com) . If you really want to quit, read all of the articles under "joel's library". You'll go away enlightened.

I use this websight also. I quit December 18th and though the worst of it is over, I still have urges. Lately they seem to have increased a little in intensity do to some very stressful things going on in my life but I won't cave... when I get close I re-read articles from that websight.
To do this you have to be done smoking, that is what gives you the will power. Good luck to you and I hope you make the decision to stop spending money on something that is killing you.

'just quit' works sometimes, but not for everyone.
First off, you have to BELIEVE that YOU CAN DO IT. Sounds easier than it is trust me.
Then completely STOP buying ciggarettes. And if friends or family smokes, as hard as it may be, it's a good idea to avoid them for a few weeks as it will make you want one.
If you can make it a week or 2 without a single ciggarette you are pretty much half way there because usually having a ciggarette after a week or 2 will probably give you headachs. . Now its all about consistancy and vigilance.
If all else fails, see your doctor. There are many ways your doctor can help. Such as chantax (if you can take it, there are a lot of restrictions on it)
Or you may have to spend the big bucks on patches or gum.
There is a magnet that you put on your ear to quit smoking... I advise against this... unless someone else can say that they had a good experience with it, for me and my husband both all it did was hurt our ears. It DID NOT help with cravings at all!
