I have a 3 story home with big bathroom on 2nd floor directly above 1st floor kitchen. The shower (separate from jacuzzi tub) must have a leak underneath it as we are unable to shower from pouring water through the ceiling into my kitchen sink and the ceiling looks as though it is about to fall through from water damage. So, needless to say, we have only been taking baths. I would like to know how to repair/replace the ceiling. I assume once I have the old ceiling down I will be able to see where the leaking is occurring to fix that before replacing the ceiling. Thank you. I really could use some help.

What is material of ceiling? Plaster, sheetrock or something else?

If ceiling looks like it is falling, take it down before someone gets hurt.

I am not sure of material... I don't know how to tell the difference. It's an old house. The area is probably 3X3 feet damaged. I would think that is sheetrock but again unsure.

Unable to tell u how to repair if don't know what it is.

Punch small hole in ceiling. If s/r will be thin. About 1/2''. Also should be able to see screw/nail location.

When you open up the ceiling and locate the leak tell us about it over at The Plumbing Page and we'll get it fixed. Good luck, Tom
