Hello. My son is on supervised probation in Clearwater, Fl. For Felony Criminal Mischief. He lost his job in Clearwater and needed to move back home to Orlando, Fl, so his Probation Officer gave him permission to move back to Orlando. The Probation Officer has been dragging his feet about doing the actual transfer/paperwork. When my son called his Probation Officer again to ask when he would be transferring him, my son found out he now has a new Probation Officer. He spoke to the new Probation Officer filling him in on his history and explaining he needs to be transferred, so he can finish up his community service in Orlando. The new Probation Officer phoned my son the next day saying the transfer had now been completed and for my son to call his new probation officer in Orlando to set an appointment for intake. When my son called the probation officer in Orlando, she told my son the Probation Officer in Clearwater had not followed proper procedure and then hung up on him. He then called the probation officer in Clearwater who explained he had gone by procedure. My son is stuck in the middle. What does he need to do now? He is very concerned he could be violated even though he got verbal permission from the first probation officer to move. Thank you. Mrs. Abdalla

Hello Mrs:

An IN state transfer shouldn't be much trouble at all, and I don't believe he can be violated for moving WITHIN the state.
