My question, if the closing balance of the retained earning 1 Million, what is the entry for the dividend of 800,000.

Has the dividend been paid?
If yes, then Credit Cash for the amount
If no, then Credit Dividends Payable for the amount
The Debit will be to be Retained Earnings
