Hi guys,
Am 24 male.. I feel that I am addicted to the habbit of consuming beer since past 3-4 years. Before that I never appreciated drinkers n' smokers but now am a part of their community. I was an athelete and now I weigh around 83 kgs. I have problems while walking, I can't walk fast and can't even run properly. I don't know whether consuming beer is good for health or no. Another problem I have experienced is short term memory loss, I can't remember small and common things that's affecting on my engineering studies. Friends say consuming beer is cool and it's a symbol of mature men but I am not fully convinced with it. I have even spoilt my muscular looks and now I carry a double chin.

Whenever I decide of quitting on the habbit, my friends force or comment on that (I feel dumb and insulted) and try to bend my resolutions. I am confused between I want to quit and gain back good health also can't afford of losing friend at this stage. I have even spoilt my muscular looks and now I carry a double chin.

Beer puts on weight, it is an alcoholic beverage, therefore addictive. Have some backbone and lose your bad habits and get your life back on track. Why do you have to follow the crowd ? Leave them behind in their own mess and you get ahead of the game.

You are yourself saying that it's wrong... do you know that alcohol is bad for the health if taken in too great quantities, especially if taken frequently? The liver is affected; you can have hepetitis, the 10th leading cause of death in the world... Just try to reduce your alcohol intake, it'll so you good.

EDIT:Hepatitis instead of hepetitis

Beer is alcohol, plain and simple. If you cannot stop consuming it you may have an addiction.

Is it bad for you? All things not consumed in moderation are bad for you. Alcoholism is a wide spread problem, very easy to fall into this disease.

If you're having problems quiting then see your doctor, find an AA meeting near you, get help. Yes, it can effect your health, heck, it can kill you.
