How do you remove spark plugs from a 2002 Dodge Stratus. 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder, double overhead cam?
I cannot just pull off rubber cap over spark plugs as I can with my 1999 Dodge Stratus with a similar engine.

Just twist and remove the boot:

The rest of the procedure is what you are used to. Only remove spark plugs when the engine is "stone cold," to help prevent stripping the threads in the aluminum head.

Mr. TXGREASEMONKEY,
The problem is that when I remove the boot over the spark plug area, there is a metal, "star shaped" metal item that prevents access to the spark plug. How do you remove the metal "star shaped" item?
As I mensioned before, on my 1999 Dodge Stratus with a similar engine, I have nothing to prevent me from having direct access to the spark plugs.

Sorry, I haven't seen what you are referring to. I would have to see it, in order to figure it out.

Just pry one off, then check it out... now you know how to take the other ones off without breaking them... then get another star shaped thingy to replace the one you messed up... and get a spark plug boot removal tool... have to see it I guess... but that's what I would do.lol
