Can some one show me how to calculate milliequivalent of chlorine in chloromethylated polystyrene crosslinked with 1% divinylbenzene.

Wow. This is deja-vu for me. I used to do this in graduate school -- part of my thesis work.

You need to analyze for chlorine using something. You could digest the ps/dvb and titrate it with silver nitrate. I used to do that in graduate school. There are other ways to displace the chloride so you can titrate it with silver nitrate, but the problem is that you tend to leave some chlorine behind. This can, however, be a better way to determine active chlorine in the resin. Some chlorine is so tight into the structure that it's unreactive.
