I am trying to start a residential pool cleaning business and can not find out what licensing is required or where to obtain such license. I am in SW Florida.

Hi, Megan H!

I think that if you paid a visit to the City Hall, people there would be able to answer most of your questions.

Thanks!

A business license would be needed.

It depends where your business is located... if you are running it out of your home.. You may not need one

My town I live in currently does not require business licenses
For businesses run out of home...

Call your village or visit their website.. my village has all their info about businesses on their website

Hello c:

If it were me, I'd hire a CPA. He could tell you EXACTLY what licenses you need, or more importantly, he can tell you which ones you DON'T need.

I promise you, if you ask a bureaucrat for your legal advice, you're going to get the WRONG legal advice... I used the word legal, but accounting advice is the same kind of stuff.

I say CPA, because like a lawyer, he has a fiduciary responsibility to give you the CORRECT information or he can be sued. Try suing your local bureaucrat if they give you the wrong information.

Not only will a CPA give you the correct information, he can set up your books and get you going in the right direction in terms of bonding, insurance and other important things like that. Plus, he'll do ALL that for only a couple hundred dollars. That's a pretty reasonable amount for all the certainly it brings.

Cpas are nice... but mine costed me 700 last year...
So unless you have a nice dime to spend...
Just call your local VILLAGE HALL AND COUNTY CLERK.. AND SECRETARY OF STATE!
THEY GIVE YOU ALL THE INFO YOU NEED FOR FREE..
YOU JUST NEED TO DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT SOLE PROPREITOR OR CORP.
