Lonely Soul

Hello everyone.
Over the past year or so I have found myself strongly attracted to my Chemistry teacher. I'm 18 years old, soon to be 19, and my teacher is in their early 20's. I have dated older in the past, and have found that I enjoy their companionship greater than those my own age.
So I am a senior in high school, and I'm about to graduate.
I have a feeling that my teacher is interested in me, but there are so many lines that could be crossed and I don't want them to lose their job.
I was thinking about asking them for their phone number so we can spend some time together after I graduate. Is this a good idea? Could the teacher suffer any repercussions from the school if they were to find out about our relationship (after graduation)?
I think of myself as a pretty cultured, well-educated person, but I'm skeptical about pursuing such an intellectual. Is there any advice on how I could step up my game and converse about more "adult-like" subjects with my teacher?
We both seem to be pretty skiddish when it comes to expressing our emotions. I feel like we're both kind of "dorky" and aren't so skilled in the fields of approaching a love interest. I'm very intimidated by my teacher and normally I'm not with others. (I blush, they do to at times during conversation, I lose track of what I'm trying to say, etc.) Maybe it's because they are my teacher? And it seems forbidden? But I could totally see good things happening. We have a lot in common and I really enjoy their presence in such a boring class. (Boring, yet interesting!) Please help! (:
