View Full Version : Interested in my teacher.

Hello everyone.
Over the past year or so I have found myself strongly attracted to my Chemistry teacher. I'm 18 years old, soon to be 19, and my teacher is in their early 20's. I have dated older in the past, and have found that I enjoy their companionship greater than those my own age.
So I am a senior in high school, and I'm about to graduate.
I have a feeling that my teacher is interested in me, but there are so many lines that could be crossed and I don't want them to lose their job.
I was thinking about asking them for their phone number so we can spend some time together after I graduate. Is this a good idea? Could the teacher suffer any repercussions from the school if they were to find out about our relationship (after graduation)?
I think of myself as a pretty cultured, well-educated person, but I'm skeptical about pursuing such an intellectual. Is there any advice on how I could step up my game and converse about more "adult-like" subjects with my teacher?
We both seem to be pretty skiddish when it comes to expressing our emotions. I feel like we're both kind of "dorky" and aren't so skilled in the fields of approaching a love interest. I'm very intimidated by my teacher and normally I'm not with others. (I blush, they do to at times during conversation, I lose track of what I'm trying to say, etc.) Maybe it's because they are my teacher? And it seems forbidden? But I could totally see good things happening. We have a lot in common and I really enjoy their presence in such a boring class. (Boring, yet interesting!) Please help! (:

As long as you are over 18, there's no problem with adult and minor.

Definitely wait until you graduate, so that you are not teacher-student relationship.

Once you're gone from the school and reached the age of adulthood, you're good to go.

If you would like to pursue your teacher, you should definitely wait until after you graduate since you are a legal adult (though a minor) and it wouldn't be a scandalous teacher student relationship. But if the teacher in question thinks it would be too risky you should respect that since it would be their career on the line. Waiting is definitely the thing to do here. Find the right time and the appropriate way to do it (if you choose to) and you should be fine.

You stated your teacher is interested in you but I would like to know what signs is giving you?

Also, you stated you dated older guys but you wanted some pointers on how to talk more adult-like so I must ask "what did you and these older guys talk about?"

I didn't want to get into the more personal aspects of the issue, I was merely asking for general advice on the subject. It seems to me as if you are responding to my question in a negative tone, I came here for advice, not an interrogation.

Hi, Lonely Soul!

I would suggest waiting until you graduate before doing any sort of approaching of the teacher concerning what it is about which you're thinking.

Any impropriety shown by either of you could make it difficult for either of you to feel comfortable in school and hard to also function in the roles that you really need to play in the professional sense of the proper teacher-student relationship.

Thanks!
