I have an eclectic style and want to search some BLOGS to find some fun things to make for my place, and some unique ways of decorating.

Okay, Momma!

Where would you like to place the decorations?

Thanks!

In the house. That's why I am looking for home décor.

Do you own your place or are you renting?

ChihuahuaMomma

I'm renting. Why do you ask?

Clough

If you own your own place, then there's probably more things that you could do.

Are you allowed to paint walls and ceilings the way that you would like to?

We can do whatever we want to the house, we're on a lease option. I'm not talking about painting though. I'm just talking about decorating.

Painting is decorating. One of the things that's really in vogue right now is to paint very wide stripes around the edges of a ceiling in different colors that compliment that which is on the walls.

I recently did that in the home of a customer. The stripe that is nearest the wall is 18 inches wide, and the next strip is 12 inches wide, there is a one-inch stripe between the larger stripes where the tape was.

It creates a faux effect of there being different levels of surfaces on the ceiling.

I don't want to paint. By decorating I mean the items that you hang on walls or set on tables, frames, the way you arrange furniture. The patterns, textures, and colors that you choose to mix together. You are focusing on painting. And I want to know how to find blogs on home décor.

Painting is just one thing that I can mention. There's also window treatments that you could do with curtains and blinds.

The customer for whom I did the painting on the ceiling actually painted flowers on a very large Davenport (sectional, couch) that they have. It looks great!

She is a nationally recognized flower arranger. And, she is also very eclectic in the way that she decorates things.

Painting designs on furniture is another option.

Do you have any blogs or websites to refer me to? I'm very much a visual person and I have a folder on my laptop for ideas.

Yes, that is RAD! I wonder how they did that?

I would assume a colored light under the water. But how indeed.

Clough
Jun 3, 2009, 02:04 AM
Ah, I see! A colored light does make sense!

If the water was actually that color, I don't know that I would be wanting to bathe in it in any way!

True true.

Are you good with making things out of small pieces of wood, Momma?

Clough

Did I lose you, Momma?

ChihuahuaMomma

No and No.

Clough
Jun 3, 2009, 02:22 AM
Okay, you know, there was a time that I was really bad with making things out of wood. Many things can be made of wood that you can used for decorating.

It just takes some practice...

I'm into clay scultping, crocheting, scrapbooking and those sorts of things. I can attach a few things that I have saved for my "home decor ideas" folder so that you have more of an idea of what I'm talking about.

Clough

Okay, that would be great to see some of what you've done!

If you click on the following link, you'll find a couple of images of me making thumb pianos that kids put together.

Those seem to be the only two that I can find.

A recycled plastic cup lamp shade, and letter pillows.

Clough
Jun 3, 2009, 02:34 AM
Okay, that would be great if you would post some images of what you would like to do!

If you need help in figuring out how to go about making them, I'm sure that some of us can "put our heads together" and figure out how to make them.

Thanks!

With something made of plastic for a lampshade, you'll need to careful as to how high the wattage can be with the bulb.

Clough
Jun 3, 2009, 02:37 AM
Pillows in the shape of letters shouldn't be a problem.

Do you have a sewing machine?

Yes.

Colored bulbs are generally low wattage anyhow, right?

Clough
Jun 3, 2009, 02:56 AM
For household use, yes, bulbs are usually low wattage. However, for stage productions, I think that some of them can be high wattage, although, I'm not all that positive about that.

If you have a sewing machine, then I think that you probably are ready to "fly" on some projects for your home!

Correct?

Okay, I'm starting to fade away here, Momma! I need to get to bed!

I've enjoyed our conversations here tonight, and look forward to conversing with you in the near future!

Thanks!

Yup. I want more ideas though. I've been given creative freedom for two rooms in my house, so I need TONS of ideas.

What sort of budget do you have for what you might want to do, please?

Thanks!

About $50.
