I am 16 years old and I have been living with my boyfriend for about 3 months now. I live in Minnesota. I was just kind of curious if anyone knew if there was a law or anything saying that since I've lived here for so long, taking care of myself and stuff, if I get to stay here.
My mom keeps playing these games where at first she doesn't care that I stay here but sometimes she gets all mad and wants me to come home, but I don't like it there I got into trouble all the time living there, and here I don't get into any trouble.
I know my mom won't do the emancipation thing because I already brought it up to her. But I was wondering if there is a way I can stay here, and she won't get a say in it because I've been here so long.
Sorry if this is confusing, but I would appreciate any help I can get.
THANKS.

I don't know the laws where you are at or where your Mom is at, but I was alone at 16 also and it wasn't a lot of fun.

I believed that my Dad was the root of my problems (or where he lived). I regret it to this day for staying away.:(

I hope you are making the right decision for you and your family:)

How old is your boyfriend?

Honestly, as much as legally it may or not be legal in your state- there's really not much she can do about it- like... when I moved out of my parents house even though it was tech illegal... the police wouldn't be bothered with it because they see it as not a big deal so long as your being provided for safe etc.
But also it depends on your bfs age since he could be accused of like child molestation etc if he's over 21--- but the thing is like its very sketchy at that point... but how old is your boyfriend?

Sorry - this is very wrong.

First, yes, the boyfriend might be on the hook for sexual assault of a minor. Secondly, and more importantly, if he is 18 and she is 16, he could be charged with interference of parental rights and transporting a minor. There are all sorts of laws that protect children, even from themselves.

At 16, the OP cannot legally sign contracts so getting a lease is impossible.

Circumstantial evidence (such as your anecdotal story of your illegal move) has no place in a legal forum. "I broke the law and it turned out ok so its ok if you do to" is a good way to land the OP in trouble... and possibly yourself.

This is the legal board, not a discussion board. Please make certain your advice is correct.

This advice is not.

Also, text speak is not acceptable on the legal threads. Please use full words and full sentences.

In view of your previous attempt to purchase fake proof and your subsequent sarcastic response, I do not think the legal board is a good fit for you. https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/gambling/buy-ids-174745.html#post837701
