I'm using a Toshiba Satellite U305-S2804, I got it in March of 2008. Since then the disk drive would stop working randomly, but usually I could restart the laptop and it would be fine. However I recently had to reboot the whole system, and now the disk drive doesn't read anything no matter what I do.

When I put in a disk it makes the sounds that sound like it's loading but after about a minute it stops and nothing happens. When I click "my computer" all that appears is the C drive.

I've tried a lot of stuff to fix it such as uninstalling and reinstalling the Drive, and the Microsoft "fix it." Along with others that I can't remember.

Any ideas?

Hai,
It may be due to failure of any of your PCI card inserted in your motherboard... Check all of them... by doing as
Remove one PCI card and reboot the system...
If it fixes your problem... discard that PCI card.
If not inserting it and
Remove other PCI card and reboot the system...
Do for all PCI cards in the same way...
It may fix your problem!
Because the problem arises from the allocation of IRQ.
Please note that in each time before removing your PCI card you must shut down the windows and switch off your power supply to the system... it may take a long time... do it patiently..
Best wishes...

Oh, I see.

Sorry, how would I go about removing the PCI?
