I'm having problems getting my student visa extended in canada. There are various factors affecting it. I am currently involved in a legal case for drug possession (a case that I have every chance of beating). The trial isn't till February 2010. My student visa runs out at the end of August 2009. I also have been charged for domestic assault twice. The first of which I received absolute discharge and the second I received a conditional discharge where I have to meet a parole officer for a year. I have to meet the parole officer till September of 2009.

My question is, what would happen to me if I was to not be able to extend my student visa since I am involved in a drug charge? My trial is in February but if my student visa doesn't get extended then I would be in trouble right?

Please help!

Wow, you got into a lot of problems during your studies in Canada. I guess all you can really do is apply for the extension and if it gets denied ask for an interview where you can explain the situations.

If you get completely denied any extension because of these charges you need to contact the court and inform them you have to leave the country in August 2009 and have a trial Feb 2010 and see what you need to do.

I would also suggest before anything to call CIC and speak to someone who may be able to offer additional advice on this specific case
