My band has finally decided on a name.
I wanted to know about using the name. When I checked and see the name is used in variations by groups in Virginia, New Orleans, the UK and Europe. Is it okay to use the name as long as you are local and not using a famous bands name?
What kind of licenses, tax papers or other legal forms do we have to have to play bars, picnics, festivals, etc..

Thanks

Hi, N0help4u!

I'm sorry that no one has yet come along to address your question!

Now, I'm no expert with knowing about taxes and the name thing. But, I have played with a major dance orchestra. It is a "big band".

I can definitely help you with the marketing of your band and some legalities concerning the use of copyrighted music.

What kind of band do you have, please?

Thanks!

I mean you can't call yourself "Three Dog Night or some similar name that would make you appear to be the famous band.

And the latter issue is that if you start getting famous, looked what happened with the band Chiago when they started getting famous ( that is why they are called Chiago today, they had to chage their name

They want to call themselves Mojo and if they go more than local and need to then change it to Mojo Funk or something.

They do Blues, jazz, reggae, classic rock and oldies.
