Hello. I have been using this HP desktop, and lately it has been having some problem, it became slow when I were just trying to read new on yahoo.com and I did not open any other problem beside my Firefox. Then, it kept on freezing... Today I tried to restart the computer and do a virus scan, it freezed again at 31% of the scan.. I didn't know what to do about it so I turn it off and trying to turn it back on again... but then, the computer won't start, it doesn't even load anymore... What's wrong..

PLEASE HELP!

Can you start in Safe Mode?

I would go into safe mode first

To get into the Windows Vista Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.

Once in safe mode, do a system restore back to a date when there was no problems

Instructions below are the same for Vista

The link in my last post explains *everything* about getting into safe mode.

So I tried the F8 and it didn't work... the window light (next to the disc drive) on my desktop (HP) stopped blanking, does it mean that it's not even trying to turn on itself..

Any light come on? Does it sound like it is starting? Does the monitor seem to get power when you turn on PC?

Anything you can add may help

Its sounds like it was starting, the fan is on, the top light turn blue... the monitor gets power and it's connected to my desktop...

I tried pressing the disk drive, it comes out, comes back in and load... but the just doesn't do anything, the screen is black the whole time, even though I tried pressing F8 for like 5 min.

I think it's only the fan is working... I am not sure =(

Does it boot without trying the F8 key?

If either do nothing, I would have to go with a repair installation at this point - you will need a Vista cd for this

Go down till you see: Windows Installation Disk Step 1
John Barnett's Windows Vista Support: Windows Vista Repair Options (http://vistasupport.mvps.org/windows_vista_repair_options.htm)

When you get to step 15, choose Startup Repair
