Hi. I had a question or two. My dad was born in 1949 and we are throwing a big birthday bash for his 60th next week. Well, I was thinking I'd make him some 'party music' per say. I wanted to burn some cd's of his favorite songs. Thing is, it's a surprise party so I can't just call him up and ask him. Anybody got any ideas of some music he might have listened to. I know he likes The Beach Boys and the Everly Brothers. He currently likes Sugarland. I was also wanting some songs about fathers and friends. Any help would be appreciated.

The songs that evoke the most emotion and memory for me are songs that were popular when I was about 16 - 20 years old. For your father that would be the late 60s. Some of the groups that were popular during that time are The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, The Supremes, The Rightous Brothers, The 4 Tops.

As for songs about fathers... 2 of my favorites:
Keith Urban - A Song for Dad
Eric Clapton - My Father's Eyes

Donty know if this would help but...

Some fun music of the same sort from the 60's would be
The Ventures
The Hollies
The Animals
Zombies

The only surf band mentioned was the ventures but all the others are nice 60's vocal harmony bands
