I have a janitorial service. I have years of experience in the business. My only issue is never had to go through the process of submitting a price bid.I am getting ready to bid on 10 county libraries ranging from 900 - 10,000 sq ft. I would like to know what method is better Square footage or Hourly bids. Thank you:)

So, I am assuming that your business is new and that your experience is mainly in the operations area?

I have been in the janitorial business in the Chicago area for the last 17 years.

Anything we bid in the commercial market is bid both ways, this process allows you to check all your figures and costs and step back and view your pricing from both aspects. Now with this economy, you want to be as competitive as possible and obviously still make a profit. Close scrutiny of all you pricing is almost mandatory now.

Clean, I am sorry but I don't think that I ever mentioned this to you before, I simply forgot I guess...

You can go to the local municipalities; park districts, towns & cities, libraries, etc, and request to be put on their 'bid list' . There are forms and requirements that are set forth that you have to meet. These jobs are usually down and dirty... read 'um and weep... types. The bid in is the final bid no negotiating.
