My wife told me that the lights to the ceiling fan stopped working during a lightning storm. She said that there was a loud pop and the light went out, though the fan kept working. After turning the breaker off, I pulled the screws allowing the light assembly to drop down so I could inspect the wiring. Everything seems to be in good shape. All the connections are factory connections. There is a pigtail that plugs between the fan and the light. It appears to be in good shape. We put fresh bulbs in and turned the breaker back on but still no light. I pulled the chain a few times and I figure that mabe the switch is bad... Maybe it was shot from the power surge? But why wouldn't the fan have been shot also?
Can anyone help me figure out what to do? Do I just need to replace the light assembly?
