I adopted a "lab mix" from the pound today. She is approximately 5 months old and weighs 36 lbs. I have read through several websites and I am still not sure how much to feed her. I know I am supposed to feed her twice daily, due to her age. But the amount seems to vary anywhere between 1.25 cups/feed to over 2 cups/feed of dry food. I know labs have a tendency to get overweight, and I don't want to overfeed her. How much should I be feeding her each feeding?

There are so many conflicting opinions on this.
I have 3 dogs, 2 bigger breeds, one smaller one.
My experience has been 1 cup of food 2 times a day with 1/2 cup at noon for the bigger breed until they are 1 year old.
After their first birthday I switch to adult dog food and feed 1/2 cup of food in the morning, 1 cup at night.
I know others will disagree with me. Like I said, so many different opinions.
Congrats on your new family member.
We love pictures. Hint, hint. :)

Had to spread the rep Alty but that sounds right to me.
Labs are prone to obesity so they need a bit less food than the average miedium sized dog.
You should always be able to see the last 2 ribs on any medium/large breed dog when they move. And when looking down at the dogs back they should dip in slightly around the flank.
A lot of people believe that if you can see rib then the dog is too thin, not the case! This means they are a healthy weight.
