My parents are buying a piece of property with a mobile home that was abandoned on it. They tried to contact someone about it a number they were give by the owner of the property but no one has responded. I am sure it still belongs to the dealer what is the law here can they claim the home or be paid for storage

Get the S/N off the home and go to the County Auditor's Office to see just who is the owner of the home who is paying the taxes on it. They will be able to tell you. Then you need to contact whoever the taxpaying owner is. At the same time you can take the S/N of the home to the DMV and have them see just who the home is titled to and then contact whoever the title's owner is.

Either way, you cannot charge storage or claim the home unless the home was part of the real estate. If the home is part of the real estate, the Auditor's office should be able to advise you of that.

Generally mobiler homes are regsitered with the DMV. So you can take the S/N or VIN to the DMV to find out who its registered to.

If the registration has expired, I would send a letter to the last owenr of record and advise them if you don't hear from them in x number of days (at least 2 weeks), then you will consider the home abandoned.
