Starter intermittenly will not engage flywheel. Dealer replaced both at 277648 mi. it is doing it again after only 10000 mi. brought it back, they had van 2 days and said they replaced both again. My brother and I rode past that van every 2 hours. They did not touch it. Will not go back there any more. Has anyone had this problem, and could tell me the fix.

Were the correct Motorcraft flywheel and starter motor installed? If they were aftermarket parts, there may be a gear compatibility problem. Diesels are hard on starter motors. My bet is that they installed a rebuilt starter that gave way. I would go with a new Motorcraft starter and ensure that it's compatible with the flywheel. Finally, remove and fully charge both batteries and clean battery terminals and cable connections.
