Hi everyone ,recently I have replaced the ecm of my car , but the engine ligth still on when the engine is running , I went to advance auto part to find the troubble code , but they only work with 96 and up , there is any manual way to reset that light ? How I kwon that the ecm is not the cause of the failure , I bought it from a junk yard and the guy just told me that the ecm works fine and it was already tested , please help me out , thanks

. Here's how to reset the ECM: 1) Disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 seconds, or 2) Remove the Backup Fuse, in the under hood fuse box, for 10 seconds.

Hey , thanks for your quick response , well I tried both ways , but the engine light coming back on , it could be something else? now I noticed that the rpms goes down until the point that shuts dow easily .
I have replaced the ecm, because both : main relay and fuel pump are in good working conditions , it could any sensor ? Tune up? thanks for yoour interest

The CEL continues to come on, because a code or codes continues to be thrown;i.e. stored in the computer. Read the codes, based on how I told you above, and write them down. Then, we can go from there.

It's likely that the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil need to be replaced:

These are the two most problematic components on this generation of Honda. They should be replaced every 120,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

It's been a while , thanks for your quickly response , I have changed the ingition coil a few months ago , could be something else ?
