I have a floor drain in the basement which appears to be dried out. When I put water down the drain it just sat there for a couple of days before drying out. Could the drain have a blockage and, if so, how do I fix it. I'm concerned because the drain is the only apparent relief from water in the basement and, if it is clogged, the water has no place to go. Thanks.

You're right to be concerned. That blocked drain needs "snaked". If you are a confident diy'er, then rent an electric snake and run it out to the main drain. Otherwise call a plumber and have him do it.

Hey Dog,
Take Ricks advice and rent a power snake. Remove the grate from the floor drain and if there's a plug near the top then you have a clean out in the drain. Unscrew it and snake from there. If there's no cleanout then run the snake down the drain. You'll run into a return bend about 6 inches down but work around it and from there you have a clear shot. Good luck, Tom
