My nephew was being abused by his mother and is now living with my husband and I. We have only had him for 12 days and his mother wants to send him to Cal Farley Boys Ranch, but he doesn't want to go. How can I being his Aunt get custody of him?

If he was being abused, you should report it to CPS. Being family, you are high on the list for guardianship when the mother goes to jail.

Other than that, you cannot force custody. You can request it, but ultimately, it's the parent's decision.

You can either report it to CPS as Steve recommended, ro you can file a petition in your local Family Court to be appointed guardian. In either case, you are going to have to prove to the court the abuse and why the mother shouldn't have custody.
