So, I'm making a survey about celebrity influences over teens and teens' celebrity obsession. I know celebrities affect teen's life and they are bad models for young adults.. so, can you think of any solution about this? What should parents do to avoid their teens imitating celebrities like jamie lynn, britney, paris hilton and lindsay lohan?

parents can be a stronger influence. I know this can be difficult sometimes with teens but if parents start early (before celebrity influence could even be an issue) to teach their children strong morals and values it becomes a life lesson for the children. Or better yet, turn off the tv's. Give the kids books instead of magazines. Celebrity influence will always be there but if parents keep it out of the house or at a minimum in the house at least the children won't have as much exposure to that influence.

Well first off I don't think that all celebrity influences are bad. I do agree with Britney, Paris, and Lindsay, but I have to say that I have a lot of respect for Jamie Lynn because even though she is young, and even though she's in the public eye, she still had the baby. Who knows how many celebrities get pregnant and then abort the baby. It would have been a lot easier for her to have an abortion, but she decided not too, that's brave and shows that she stands up for what she believes in. There are so many teens who are pregnant, and I think that Jamie Lynn getting pregnant as a teen made it a lot less taboo, which will help teen girls going through this. And it also shows people that there is more than one option.
I don't know what much parents could do besides help a child become more independent, confident, and establish their own individuality. Because most teens that have a strong sense of self aren't worried about what other people think of them, how skinny they have to be to be "beautiful", and make decisions based on what they want and what they think is best.
