My house house 4 heating/cooling zones with two air handling units taking care of the heating and cooling. One air handling unit is all by itself with only 1 zone and the other one has 3 zones on it. 1 of the 3 zones has the thermostat the turns on the heat or central air and the other two thermostats just handle temperature. 1 of these temperature only thermostats handles a sun porch only which can get very hot in the summer. The sun porch is completely separated from the rest of the house, it is not open to the rest of the house. We don't always use this porch but it is constantly calling for the central air conditioner to cool.

I'm trying to cut down on the electric bill, is there a way of changing the sun porch thermostat so I can shut of this zone and only turn it on when we use it? I cringe every time I hear the central air kick on on just for this sun porch even though the rest of the house is cool. Its like throwing money away.

I am sure there is a way to do it but you will be better off hiring a professional since your system is complex in nature and will not tolerate a unskilled person making adjustments or changes of the nature you are talking about.

Better safe than sorry

Thanks, I had a feeling I was going to need to hire someone but the DIY in me said to ask 1st. Kind of a poor setup to begin with is my feeling.
