Applguy gave some great advice on squeaky Frigidaire clothes dryers. Several people used his advice to repair their clothes dryer. However I need advice on my Maytag electric clothes dryer model #MDE4806AYW. My problem sounds very similar but it is a different brand dryer.
Thanks for any help.

Here is where to find online manuals for your model:
Maytag Product Literature Search Results (http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=MDE4806AYW&siteCd=MT_EN_US)
Most clothes dryers are built very similarly so the repairs vs symptoms are similar even if they're from different manufactures. Most drums ride on rollers. The axles of the rollers can fail causing squeaks. The belt that drives the drum can slip on the drum or on the motor pulley or the idler pulley can be squeaking. As Applguy noted, the rear drum bearing that is present on some models, may fail and cause a horrible squeak.
Here's a parts site with a lot of blow-ups of different appliances. Enter your model number to see parts for your dryer.
In many cases, the best way to diagnose the problem is to disassemble the dryer and remove the drum.

We have a Maytag dryer about 5 years old and it squeaks terribly when first turned on then it goes away and is silent. Could it be a belt?
