I dropped one of my two phone lines. I went out to the box and moved the "line 2" wires to the same posts for the "line 1" circuit. Now I have a hum. Any ideas?

Plug a good working phone into the NID test jack. Hum?

If you have 2 lines, you cannot place one line on top of another.
If one of the conductors touches ground, it will hum.

Strat: I think you misread the question. I think he moved the inside wires that went to the line #2 jacks and moved them to the line #1 (Electronics module).

That in itself, should not cause a hum.

A defective protector could.

But we need the results of the NID test.

Hum can be caused by bugs, spiders and defective interior wiring and phone company wiring.

I usually start at the "D Marc", then try without the protectors, once good to there, start on inside wiring.
