I'm married since Oct 2008; came to USA in Nov 2008; I've enterted marital status as "Single" while filing employment forms, since my wife is not here with me.

I'm curious to know if Federal Withheld amount from my pay-stub will be reduced if I change my marital status?

Also, my wife will be in USA in Jan 2010; Can we file taxes jointly for year 2009 and claim exemptions?
