My blower won't start. I have changed plug, bulb, and fuel lines. I can spray starter fluid directly into the carb and it will turn over but won't run for more than a second. I am currently not employed and would like to avoid spending the money on another blower. I have very limited mechanical knowledge. Taking apart carbs scares me. Please help!

More so than not its last seasons gas the wacks out the weed eater. They are very sensitive of needing the air fuel octane mixture to be on the nut.
Get some new high test gas and mix up a new batch of gas. Drain out gas in weed eater. Even if the gas is new and low octane they won't always run right. The Ethanol mixed in the gas is also playing havoc on two cycles.
Try the above first if that doesn't straighten it out the below is a video of a carb and how to clean it out.
