Hi All,

I am in need of some serious help. I'm using dell computer running on XP. I use a Belkin USB adapter to connect to the internet, but i'm using windows own "wireless network connection" software to connect to the interet.

I connect to Airport Express, using the belkin USB but now I can't connect anymore. It was working today and I opened up Limewire as normal, and sometimes when i open limewire up it doesn't let me view any websites, so i normally just re-boot and then carry on... however, this time i re-booted and tried to get it working again but now it doesn't get an IP address, it just selects a 169...address, Also it doesn't have a default gateway and i think it's unable to connect to the DCHP server.

When i try to repair the ip address it doesn't work, it just gives me a 169... address. I've tried ipconfig but that doesn't work.

so to recap

i've got no ip address
no default gateway
and i think i can't connect to the DCHP Server....

Please please please help me... i'm going insane!

thanks,

dan

Hello - I know this question was raised a long while ago, but Im having exactly the same issue as this person!! Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling bothte broadband and the belkin wireless adaptor.
The weird similarity here is that I was fine using my wireless adaptor until I tried installing limewire the other day and it didn't work, and every since then Ive not been able to get on the internet properly - even when I uninstalled limewire (which incidentally didn't work anyway).
Ive tried doing the start>run>ipconfig /renew and it does absolutely nothing.
I have no idea what to try now - at the moment I'm plugged in via the ethernet cable, but as the wireless box is in a communal part of the house I can't leave my PC plugged in to it, so it means trying to figure out this stupid wireless issue.
If anyone can help then please get in touch as Ive spent days trying to fix this and am now pulling my hair out!!
Thanks,
Tamsworld

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's, especially an old thread. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread. I also referenced the original question.

Now to your question. {Editorial Note: This is what happens when you try to pirate copyrighted material-<>}

What I would try is to totally remove your wireless adapter. Also clean out all vestiges of Limewire. Then reboot and have Windows detect the adapter and then run the networking wizard to try and re-establish your connection.
