I just installed a Hampton Bay Carriage House II ceiling fan in my daughters' room. This was a replacement fan for the one that died last fall. Other than my not thinking things through as I was doing them, it was an easy install.
Here's the trouble. When I turned the fan on, the blades spun, but so did the light unit below the blades, but in the opposite direction! And yes, I turned it off right away and stopped the lights as soon as I could. I have to look at the wiring in the box tomorrow and make sure the connections are not damaged. I think everything is okay - the light didn't make it around more than once before I caught and stopped it, and there was slack in the wires to start.
I looked through the install guide, light on details as it is, and found nothing about this in the troubleshooting section. I looked online, and only found one reference to this kind of thing, and the person responding just said "send me a picture and I'll see..." or something to that effect.
Anyone out there have any idea how I get the lights to stop spinning when the fan is on?
Any help is greatly appreciated...
