Talk to his doctor about switching medications.

You should have him see the doctor to see if there is something else he can take. If he can only have sex for 5 minutes, then that is what it is. You need to decide if you want to be with someone that can only have sex for 5 minutes. It's likely, it will get worse, not better.

A lot of things can be tied to ED... sometimes its meds, but doesn't have to be... I can probably run out of fingers before I run out of causes.. and sometimes its one thing, but often it can be the summation of a number of "small things"...
So... if he hasn't talked to a med provider about this, he should. And if the provider does nothing more than give him ED pills, its time to find a specialist who has experience, knowledge, and is willing to spend time on potential causes.
It can be a hormone imbalance.
Stress.
Anxiety.
Performance anxiety.
Depression.
High blood pressure.
A hardening of the blood vessels.
Mental blocks.
Lack of exercise.
Lack of quality sleep.
And on and on and on...
The good and bad news is it isn't as simple as "sorry bub, your plumbing is broken"... there are often things that can be addressed... especially exercise, meds, and mental blocks... that can turn the corner.
Try to help him understand that this is like saying your car is running like crap... it might need some plugs changed, new gaskets, the system flushed, new filters, and the shocks might need some work.
Why do we accept that other things (than our sexual bodies) can have issues that can be addressed one by one... whether it's a car or a business or a sports team... but when it comes to sexual health, we clinch our sphincters and run the other way?
Too much imagery? Yeah. Thought so.

Most, not all, depression meds can cause ED.

Most, not all, depression meds can cause ED.
Isn't that the kicker... depression can cause ED... the meds can cause it...
Damned if you don't and damned if you don't.

The docs need to tell their male patients that their penis will fall off if their diabetes is not kept under control.
Not quite true, but close enough for government work.

And you learn that a relationship shoild not be based on sex, and you learn that if you love someone enough, you can live though any problem.

Sex cannot do the hard work that love demands, and love should not neglect the power of sensual touch.

What a powerful statement.

It's a rip off and badly remembered version of a quote...
Mary McCarthy-
"You mustn't force sex to do the work of love or love to do the work of sex."

I like your version better.
