Prior to giving any of my patients the depo shot, I ask them if they have any plans to become pregnant in at least 2 years, if they do, I don't give the shot. You see, depo is to be considered a long term form of birth control and can take as many as 18 - 24 months after stopping the shot to conceive.
There is nothing you can do but wait. There is no drink or magic pill.
Since you are planning on becoming pregnant soon, I recommend starting to take prenatal vitamins now. Prenatal vitamins contain folic acid. Folic acid is necessary to prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida. These defects are irreversible and many happen before a woman even knows she is pregnant.

I had a miscarriage in December 2011. January 2012 I had a normal period since then the periods of February and march are abnormal,2 days instead of 5 days.

Can you answer my question:
I have been on the depo shot for a year and a half. Got my last shot September 25th so wore off at christmas. I finally got my period back March 4th, was a normal period. I had unprotected sex twice March 18th and a couple days after that. Since a couple weeks ago I have had hot flashes. Last Friday I got cramps like I was going to get my period but then nothing and they went away. Then last Saturday all day I have had period like cramps but when I look all I have is white discharge. My period was due last Sunday. I don't have any other symptoms other then my nipples were sore sometimes. I took a test last Sunday night and it was negative then Tuesday morning and negative. I read you need to wait a week after your period is due. Could I be pregnant or is it just the shot? I don't know what to do and don't have a doctor since I live away from home. I am not ready for this if I am pregnant :(.
