Looking for an inexpensive way to repair the wall to our 18 ft Above Ground Pool. It has rust around the skimmer basket and spots all around the wall. I bought a new liner last year and ended up getting a hole in it due to the rust spots. Now that our kids are gone we don't use it enough to purchase a new one. Please Help?? Any suggestions? How cheap of a fix do you want? You can glue sheet metal or even sheet plastic on the inside between the wall and the liner. Unless the actual hole is bigger than your fist this would keep its integrity enough to hold back any bulge.

There not big holes. Just rough enough to punture a hole in the liner. My husband is convinced to by a new one but hey it's still standing and doesn't look that bad. Wouldn't the sheet metal puncture the liner as well?

Nope, you get a piece of sheet metal at the hardawre store, round off the corners with snips and a file. Apply a bead of PL construction adhesive or any good construction adhesive and insert it between the liner and the wall, helps to lower the water. The adhesive isn't real critical since the weight/pressure of the water will hold it in place. With sheet plastic you can just grease it with corn oil or cooking oil and slip it in place with no glue.

Thank you very much!:) We will try this. Hopefully this will convince my husband to give it a try instead of buying a new pool. We just don't use it enough anymore since our girls are now in college to invest in new.
