Noticed in the middle of a steamy South FL night last night that my air handler (located in the attic of my 2 story home) was not running. When I adjusted the thermostat, thinking it wasn't set low enough, I could hear a click sound each time it would normally cut on and off, but no blower. Outside, the Trane unit was running just fine. I cut the whole thing off, but now am freaking out. I am guilty of a very dirty air intake and will be up there shortly to assess any dust/dirt issues, but need help as to what this may be and how much it may cost - single (VERY) handy mom here, and extremely broke. Hoping it 's just a relay or switch. It's quite a while until we can go without a/c down here. PS: anyone want a great house located 3 miles from the Atlantic in exchange for something old/historic in NC, SC,GA,TN,VA, WVA,AL or other areas, please contact me. Other than this a/c problem, the house is great and really unique.

Very well could be a relay. Some can be replaced and come are soldered in circuit board. Do you have a volt meter to do some testing of parts. What unit do you have? Model #? How old is unit? Relay itself is not expensive. Circuit board is another story.
