I have a Snapper rear engine riding mower with a 13.5 HP engine. Runs for a short time but dies out. I've changed the fuel filter and cleaned the air filter. Seems to idle OK but after I put it in gear and run a couple of minutes it starts to die out. If I choke it, it will start and run for a few seconds. Anyone know what's going on?

Anyone answer this? I have the same problem wth a 13.5 hp rear engine. Started doing it ever so often and now it won't make a full turn in the yard without sputtering out.

Hi,
Many Snappers have a closeable vent in the gas cap to prevent leaking when stood on end (something some are made to do.) Make sure it is not closed or a vacuum in the tank results.
Peace,
Clarke

Done, she is opened about 1/2 to 3/4. Thanks for the reply though.
