We have rented a house with an above ground pool. The owners let it get nasty. The bottom has sludge and debris. We put 3 envelopes of shock and 3 bottles of clorox in it and it actually started to look a LITTLE better, hoever the bottom is nasty. Can we get in the pool and use a wet vac to get the stuff off the bottom? We really 'hate' to have to drain it. Will the pool vaccuum get the sludge off the bottom? The pump works OK, but not enough to clean it.
Thanks,

You need to drain it and clean it.
Clean your filters. Its not good to put clorox in the pool... its simply not made for it.
Its better to start over because it will be easier to take care of it.
Advice, if you have only 2 ports to circulate water add 2 more and get a bigger filtration system.
If you can afford it get a saltwater system for your above ground pool... they make them. That replaces chlorine tabs/liquid.
This will make it more easier to manage.

You do not need to drain the pool but you do need a pool vac (not a wet vac) or a cleaning robot. Every pool owner know that you must vacuum the bottom of your pool periodically. You never drain the pool unless you are replacing the liner.
