You need to provide more detail to your question.
wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits
What is the purpose of the individual modules/components used?
Neither your title nor the question makes any sense.
Exactly what are you referring to?

Thanks for your post, I'm trying to show my course teacher that questions given to me make no sense. Not very helpful as I do not work in the trade, on a night course!

Well, I agree.
Not sure how to help.
What does the course material explain?
I will have to assume that a question in a test or quiz is preceded by a lesson or some sort of explanation to study and learn before being asked a question.
Of course, I am old school. Who knows how something is taught nowadays.
Just the statement "wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits " is so wide and broad of a statement, where does one begin?
And the statement "What is the purpose of the individual modules/components used?" is, well... beats me.
My question is what is the purpose of the question "What is the purpose of the individual modules/components used?"
Good luck. If you get more detail, get back and we will see what we can help with.

Well, "wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits" is the heading to some 30 questions I have to complete many of them with a very basic answer.
"What is the purpose of the individual modules/components used?" being one of the questions, mabye I'm trying to look at too big a picture? Looking for an indepth answer that's not needed? His wording puzzles me and will have to discuss further with him, thanks a lot for your help

The question is relative to an EAL assignment, after having completed a practical wiring task the learner has to answer some underpinning knowledge questions. This is an example; it really relates to the task, planning building and testing, so it is not a general question but quite specific. Although it is not a clear answer something like that below is an indication.
"The purpose of the individual module and components used is that each component serves a different purpose to others. Therefore various types are included in the drawing so the circuit works and does the job it was intended.
e.g. 1 red LED has a specific task 1 green LED has a different task."

Rube, I doubt your answer will be received by Smooy, as this question is over two years old.

I listed it due to the fact the qualification is still running and others may find it of interest. But thanks for the response.
