My cat is 18 years old, 19 in September (older than me might I add)
Anyway, She has been getting really skinny and sleeping a lot...
I know that's all in getting old but for the past week she has been having seizors and strokes.
Every time I see her going through one of them I write down the date and time. The last 3 were
3:09 5/17/09
3:27 5/17/09
And 3:31 5/17/09
My dad doesn't want to take her to the vet because they will want to put her down... How can I help my cat with these? Please help.

You need to take her to the vet to at least get some medication...
She has had a very long life for a cat though...
Putting her down may be the kind option if she is in any pain.
I'm very sorry to hear that she isn't well :(

You need to take your cat to the vet. The vet can't put your cat down without your permission. Only a vet can determine what is wrong, and if medication can help your cat or not. If you don't take her to a vet then nothing else you can do will help her.
If the vet suggests that you put the cat down, listen closely to the suggestion. One of the most humane things you can do for your cat is ease her suffering when her time comes, rather than leaving her to suffer in pain as her body shuts down and she dies. If she IS DYING and there's nothing you can do to prevent or stop it, why not give her a peaceful ending? It is very selfish to refuse to do this for your own personal reasons. If she's dying anyway, what do YOU gain by postponing the end? Be a responsible pet owner, take her to a vet, get treatment if treatment is possible, and be willing to do what responsible pet owners must do if there is no other choice.

If you love your cat, take her to the vet and it's your decision anyway if you want to put her down, not the vets.
Maybe he can proscribe some medication to control the fits your cat is having.

They will not put her down unless she is to far gone into it.The vet will give her meds for seizures if they are not longer than a year and no medical conditions are involved. My cat had them in only change of seasons and had bad medical conditions that could not be treated so I chose to let him go.Hope this will help you.check with a vet and just ask them over the phone.

Yah, thanks everyone. We were going to take her to the vet but unfortunately before we could take her she passed away. :(

Crayon, I know it's rough. But it was better off happening by God's will, not by you or the Vet. Making the decision. We had to put our pet cat asleep , he was 13, last month and it was very hard. We get very attached to our pets don't we? It hurts so much when we lose them, like a family member. But know that it's not suffering anymore. GOD bless you.

I'm sorry about your kitty. She had a good life, but I know how huge a void they leave in our hearts when they're gone. Take care...
