The battery had just been recharged after the fuse for the alternator was replaced. Car was idling with radio, air conditioner, and amp on. Also charging cell phone. Lights on dash started to fade. Cut off car, and it would not start without a jump. Ran fine after that. Mechanic cannot find anything wrong with battery or alternator. Do I need a larger battery, or is there a possible short?

You need to get a new battery, on older rides you could run without the alternator, not the new ones... the slightest loss in connection makes my 2000 silverado run like crap, I talked to gm and they said that was normal, replace the cable ends, and get a new battery!

Tell me a bit about your stereo system, particularly the amps and the speakers?

I'm dealing with the same problem. I fried two new altenators, checked every wire. I have voltage at the pre-excitation wire with key on on both sides 12v-2.3v I checked my haynes manual and the ETACM is also wired into this harness. Where is it located? My wipers work fine but curret still must pass trough it and I think its bleeding back to altenator and spiking voltage
