My 16hp kohler shuts down after a few minutes of running. Fuel system has been checked. Carb. Has been cleaned. Oil at correct level, air filter clean. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have spark when it shuts down?

Yes, as far as I know. It will start right back up and run for 2-3 minutes then dies again.

Is it speed dependent?

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem:

1. Fuel filter
2. Try running with the gas cap loose
3. Choke not coming off properly
4. High speed mixture problem

It is not speed dependent. Fuel filter is new and fuel is flowing. I do have a dead battery. Could it be the fuel solenoid on the bottom of the carb, bowel not having correct voltage to maintain proper fuel flow?
