I want to finish my basement. My walls have brick on the top half and stone on the bottom hlf. The whole walls have a white coating (looks a lot like white wash paint). I want to have a natural look with the bricks and stone showing when I am done. The mortar to the brick is in good shape but the stone is crumbling. I plan on remortaring the stone with tinted mortar. I would like to seal the wall for moisture control also. My problem- is what order do I do these?

Hi Tina
The first step is to remove the paint. Sand blast (lot of dust) or power wash (lot of water).
Point up brick and stone. Let mortar cure for at least 3 days.
Seal with clear water resistant sealer.
Good luck

Check the yellow pages for concrete contractors. Get at least 3 estimates. Get estimates in writing so u can compare work to be done and price.
Good luck
