As some of you know my partner and I purchased our first home over a month ago.

There was the most revolting colored lino in the laundry that you have ever seen. We want to replace it.

Only problem is, the laundry is actually an added extension to the house that the previous owners thought would be fun to do. They laid the concrete really badly and there are lumps and bumps all through the old lino.

We managed to pick up some second hand black and white lino pretty cheap and it's almost the perfect size :)

My question is, what do I use to make the floor level?
Can it be done (please say yes)

Yes, a product such as:

Super-Level: Premium Grade Self-Leveling Cement-Based Floor Underlayment (http://www.super-tek.com/superlevel.htm)

You can grind bumps out of the cement with either a diamond rasp or an abrasive blade on an angle grinder.

Concrete dust is nasty, so you have to turn off your heat/AC and wear a respirator and contain the dust.

If installing an underlayment is an option, go for it. It might add another 1/8" to the floor height.

I'm sure 21boat will have better ideas.
